Date & Time
Sunday, July 22 from 11:00 am - 3:30 pm
1 four-hour workshop, with a 30-minute break for lunch*
Mini skeins have become standard in most local yarn shops and have created a whole category of shawl patterns. We’ve selected one of our favorite patterns, the Mini Mazy Shawl, which highlights the beauty of hand-dyed mini-skein sets. In this workshop we will spend the morning learning about color, what looks good together and creating your customized color palette. Then you will create a color study of your shawl to use as a guide for the dyeing process.
In the afternoon, you’ll learn about the dyeing process, including safety and how to handle your yarns throughout the process. Using the dip dyeing technique you will dye your yarns in your chosen color palette, creating tonal effects with complementary color families. At the end of the workshop, you will go home with a colorful bundle of seven mini skeins and one 100 gram skein of fingering weight yarn to create your own one-of-a-kind Mini Mazy shawl.
Some dyeing experience is helpful but not necessary.
One Mini Mazy pattern, seven mini skein blanks, one full skein blank, and all dyeing and safety materials.
Please wear clothes that can get messy and/or wet. An apron will be helpful. *Please bring your own lunch
