In this final workshop of our Summer Designer Series, you will learn how to make a two-color stranded yoke by knitting one of Jenn’s designs into a sample-sized yoke. You will learn about yoke construction styles and their advantages and disadvantages, including Jenn’s preferred invisible increase method.  Jenn will discuss how fit styles, ease, waist shaping and short-row shaping affects the fit of a sweater, and how to choose a flattering sweater size.

A yoke design is dependent upon color and how you choose to use it.  Jenn will review the color wheel and aspects of color theory including contrast, value, darkness and lightness.  You’ll also learn about yarn dominance and how to get better looking colorwork while avoiding a tangle of yarn as you knit.

 Students will need to bring:

  • Double-Pointed or Circular Needles US size 7 and 8 (this will give you options for gauge)
  • Your notions kit with scissors, stitch markers and other knitting tools.

 Included in the workshop:

  • Two skeins of Lettlopi yarn
  • Colorwork yoke chart and handouts

 Prerequisites:

  • You must be able to independently cast-on, knit, purl and bind-off.
  • You also must be comfortable knitting a small circumference in the round using either double-pointed needles or the magic loop method.
  • Must have experience knitting from a chart.

Maximum of 12 students for this workshop. Sign up early to reserve your spot.
